GreenStitch
GreenStitch’s mission is to transform community clothing waste into creative opportunities for education and sustainability. By upcycling donated garments into art projects and curricula for elementary students, we empower the next generation to recognize their environmental responsibility, inspire collective action, and cultivate a culture of care for our planet.
Founder, President, Editor-in-Chief
As Founder and President of GreenStitch, I lead initiatives that turn community clothing waste into sustainable, creative opportunities. I launched county-wide donation drives that saved over 1,100 garments from landfills and oceans, and built partnerships with local schools to integrate these materials into the classroom. Working closely with principals, district supervisors, and teachers, I helped design and implement art-based sustainability projects that engaged more than 700 elementary students in hands-on upcycling, from creating tote bags to constructing a large-scale art installation hanging in the school media center. I also manage a team of bloggers, organize community events to encourage ongoing participation, and spearhead the development of educational resources, including a publication in the November 2025 issue of SchoolArts magazine focused on art and transformation and an Upcycling Guide that has become a resource in multiple elementary school art classrooms and libraries.
